F.L.A.A.R. Art & Archaeology Book Service

Books are an essential source of information on Maya archaeology, yet it is often frustrating to find the titles that are needed. In order to assist people in learning about archaeology, we offer books on Maya art, pyramids, temples and palace architecture, anthropology, iconography, epigraphy, ethnohistory, and other aspects of Maya culture.

You will also find titles on Teotihuacan, Toltecs, Olmecs, Mixtecs, and Aztecs. Our books cover Belize, Guatemala, Mexico, and Honduras.

If you want inexpensive popular paperback books on the Maya, we recommend you go to Barnes & Noble, WaldenBooks, B. Dalton, or your other local home town bookstores. We do not stock this class of book.

We specialize in hard-to-get coffee-table art books plus monographs for research. As a result F.L.A.A.R. is an ideal source for libraries, museums, schools, and colleges, as well as for your own personal library.

NEW Address: F.L.A.A.R., Art & Archaeology Book Service, 111 Saddlemire Bowling Green Ohio 43403

*** We are in the process of moving our office, including the Book Service. As soon as we have the books set up in the new location we will announce this on our various web sites.

We offer books published in Europe on pre-Columbian themes and have a good selection of books published in Mexico, Belize, etc. If you live in Europe, telephone us directly in Essen-Werden, Germany (listed under Andrea David), or better, send us an e-mail. The flaar_maya address gets to us worldwide.

We are the only distributor in the USA to offer virtually all books published in Japan which cover Maya art and archaeology.

When you ask for a book catalog, please let us know your interests:

  • have you already traveled to Maya sites or not?
  • are you a Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced in your reading?
  • do you want only books on the Maya, or also on the Olmec, Mixtec, Zapotec, etc.?
  • most importantly, do you want general popular books, or technical books at scholarly level ?
  • Unless you tell us what you wish, we are unable to know which catalog(s) to send to you.

By mail, fax, or e-mail we are open all year long. Keep in mind, however, that since we are not a commercial bookstore, we are sometimes rather slow to respond.
